Congressman Don Young Statement On Selection of Gov. Palin As Vice President Nominee

Fort Yukon, AK - The following is Alaska Congressman Don Young's statement on the selection of Governor Sarah Palin as the Vice President nominee by Senator John McCain.

"Congratulations to Governor Palin.  This is an historic event for Alaska and the nation, and I will actively support the McCain-Palin ticket to be elected our next President and Vice-President.

"Alaska has always had the potential to advance our nation's interest -- particularly in achieving energy independence. Having our own Governor Palin on the national ticket will bring serious emphasis to our capability to contribute to our nation. "All of us have our role; mine is to continue to work as Alaska's Congressman.  I look forward to working with the McCain-Palin campaign, to elect the best ticket for Alaska.  That means keeping the Congressional Team of Ted Stevens, Lisa Murkowski, and myself so we can continue using our seniority to help President John McCain and Vice President Sarah Palin in serving the interests of Alaska and our great Nation."
